Joanna began teaching in 2011 after completing a BA (Hons) in Education Studies and Geography followed by a PGCE (Primary) at Bishop Grosseteste University College. She worked in a SEND Fellowship consisting of two schools for the first 12 years of career, and taught classes of varying needs from KS1 through to KS5. During her time there she became Autism and Sensory Provision Lead for both sites, whilst also completing her NPQML and NPQSL. Joanna’s years spent working in SEND schools developed her knowledge and understanding of working with pupils with a range of diverse needs and her passion for advocating for pupils with additional needs to ensure that they had access to opportunities to thrive and succeed.
Joanna joined Springwell Alternative Academy Grantham in 2023 as a KS3 teacher, and was appointed a Teaching and Learning Responsibility of being Literacy Lead across Springwell Lincolnshire. Joanna continued advocating for pupils with additional or unmet needs and worked with the National Autistic Society to achieve the Autism Accreditation for SAAG in 2024. Joanna is now Assistant Principal – SENDCo at Springwell Alternative Academy Spalding and is looking forward to continuing to support pupils by ensuring they have access to a high quality education whilst removing barriers to success.

Rebecca then taught Y1 before moving into EYFS and quickly became passionate about engaging pupils and their families in education to instil a lifelong love of learning. During her time in EYFS she led parent classes in conjunction with the family centre and in 2020 Rebecca trialled the new EYFS curriculum within her setting and alongside her colleagues provided feedback to the DfE on this. In2021 she led across her cluster of schools on a local reading and oracy project, this inspired Rebecca to understand how impactful early intervention and reducing potential barriers to learning can be. Rebecca completed her National Professional Qualification in Leading Literacy in 2023.
Rebecca joined Springwell Spalding part-time in October 2023 teaching in KS4 and then went on to take on the role of Assistant Principal – Teaching and Learning in January 2024. Rebecca is currently working towards her National Professional Qualification in Headship.
In her spare time Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family and travelling to new places
