About Springwell Alternative Academy Spalding

Nurturing Potential, Inspiring Futures

A welcoming and supportive alternative provision for the young people of South Lincolnshire, Springwell Spalding is dedicated to re-engaging students with their education and empowering them to achieve their full potential.

Established in April 2019 as part of the acclaimed Wellspring Academy Trust, our school provides a vital service for children and young people from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4 who have, or are at risk of, exclusion from mainstream education. We cater for students with a diverse range of social, emotional, and mental health needs, offering a fresh start in a nurturing and trauma-informed environment.

Our fundamental belief is in the power of second chances and the importance of “unconditional positive regard.” We foster a culture of care and support where every student feels valued, understood, and safe. This approach allows us to build strong, trusting relationships that are the bedrock of our educational philosophy.

In our first Ofsted inspection in November 2023, we were immensely proud to be judged as “Outstanding” in all areas. The report highlighted our “warm, caring and safe environment” and the “positive, supportive environment where pupils do well.” This external validation is a testament to the dedication of our exceptional staff and the incredible resilience of our students.

At Springwell Spalding, we offer a developmental and individualised curriculum that goes beyond academics. While there is a strong focus on core subjects, particularly literacy, we also place a significant emphasis on Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) education and Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural (SMSC) development. Our curriculum is enriched with a wide array of opportunities designed to spark curiosity and a love for learning.

We understand that the needs of our students are complex, which is why we provide extensive pastoral support for both our young people and their families. By working in close partnership, we aim to overcome barriers to learning and create a positive path forward.

Our ultimate goal is to see our students flourish, not just academically, but as confident and resilient individuals who are prepared for the next stage of their lives. Whether they reintegrate into mainstream schooling or move on to further education or training, we equip them with the skills, knowledge, and self-belief to succeed.
